New Exhibit to Premier at the Buffalo Chip

The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame and the Sturgis Buffalo Chip are partnering to bring rally-goers a special new exhibit called “Paving the Way – The Women of the Motorcycle Hall of Fame.” This exhibit will showcase the women who have been inducted into the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame – 20 individuals and one women’s group. In addition, the exhibit will highlight historic women’s riding memorabilia as well as take a look at the changes that have taken place in women’s gear over the years. The exhibit will premier at the Buffalo Chip during the 2012 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, then will move to the museum in the fall of the year.

“There are so many wonderful women who have had a significant impact on the sport and lifestyle that we all love,” said Christine Paige Diers, Executive Director of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame. “We’ve already honored a number of these great women by inducting them into the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame, however this exhibit will shine a spotlight on each of these great ladies.”

“With the increase of women’s participation in motorcycling we want to showcase some of the wonderful contributions and breakthroughs women have brought to our sport over the years,” said Rod Woodruff owner of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “The added growth and tremendous participation in the Biker Belles charity event and ride, gives this unique museum exhibit a great environment to acknowledge, support and encourage the roll all women have in our wonderful sport and riding lifestyle.”

“We’re very excited to partner with the Sturgis Buffalo Chip on this project. The exhibit will be built using funds raised through the annual Biker Belles event and charity ride, so it’s fitting that we premier the exhibit at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip for all visitors to see,” said Paige Diers. “This partnership is a win-win for everyone. The Buffalo Chip will have an exhibit to share with its visitors, rally-goers will have an opportunity to get just a taste of what the museum has to offer, and the museum will be exposed to an audience that may not be familiar with what we do.”
