THANK YOU DAKOTA V-TWIN FOR A DAY OF FUN…
Rhea (pronounced Ray) Trevino was a leather craftsman of hard to equal talent before he died unexpectedly several years ago. His custom leather vests, wallets and other motorcycle rider works of leather-art are riding around on the backs of, and in the pockets of hundreds if not thousands of American bikers. His little leather shop located East of Deadwood South Dakota on highway 385 had a regular clientele of bikers who always stopped in whenever they were in town, most being Sturgis rally goers. The store carries on operated by his wife, son Ely, and other family members as Rhea would have wanted, and every year just before the Rally, Dakota V-Twin operators, Randy and Son Nick host a Pokers Run to raise money for Childrens Home Society in memory of Rhea Trevino and true biker (his Shovelhead is still running around the Black Hills somewhere). More than 150 motorcycles showed up for this year’s run, and the monetary goal set for the poker run was attained. This years poker run also included a family style block party with one block of Illinois street in Spearfish blocked –off, which included the Back Porch Bar, to accommodate all the motorcycles, riders and entertainment. The weather was a bit windy…..it was a scary hair day for some…see the photos.
