Ah, quiet. We normally have quiet here. But the big city folks who own the property next door are here this week, and they love to rev up their overtuned sports car. Sigh.

Was a nice quiet Christmas for us. Altho I did talk a lot on the phone with the kids.We couldn`t be together again this year so it was phone calls and face time. There are some good points to technology :D I did do a Christmas dinner for us,but didn`t over do it so we wouldn`t be eating left overs forever

Yesterday we had quite the snowstorm .There is a lot of snow and today will be spent snow blowing and shovelling. It is very cold and will stay this way all week.Temperature this morning was - 27 C with a wind chill of -37 C.Will need to dress warm to be out there.

Sure hope 2022 is a better year.Stay safe and stay healthy.

We got about 15" of snow. ..now the wind and cold start for a week. A few highs are below -0- this week. But it motivated me to service the snowmobiles...all ready to ride since the Harley is in storage.

I am already ready for longer days and warmer nights! This time of year is why people don't move to SD, even more so if the wind is blowing.

You're totally right, Randee. I grew up in the Texas Panhandle, at high altitude and with nothing between us and Canada except a barbed wire fence -- and it was down... When that north wind fires up, one can only measure temps by wind chill factor. And the Panhandle is positively toasty in winter compared to the Dakotas.

I'm more than happy to be in the Hill Country, where winter is very mild. Our first hard freeze looks to be coming Saturday night, when we go from a high of 79 to a low that night of 29, then highs in the 40s on Sunday, another hard freeze of 27, then right back into the 60s/70s highs and lows in the upper 30s to upper 50s. What we're not getting is the winter rain yet.

We might turn the heater on for a couple nights, or just use the fireplace.

Happy New Year, everyone. Hope 2022 is safe, prosperous, and enjoyable.

The freeze hit early this morning. High winds are keeping the wind chill factor down there, but at least it's clear and sunny, so no one will have to deal with ice. Longer freeze all night tonight. Be interesting to see how the tomato plants react; will we still have tomatoes or will the plants succumb to the 8+ hours of below freezing temps.

Meanwhile, we'll enjoy sitting in front of the fire.

Back in the deep freeze. The cold let up for one day and now it is back. Strong winds and snow is on the way.

I am now dreaming and planning the garden for spring. Of course we still have about 3 or possibly 4 months of winter left.

We just stay in our nice warm house and only go out when we have to. One nice thing about this time of year. I do a lot of reading and I enjoy that.I like nothing better than a hot cup of coffee and a good book.

Bit nippy, but we'll be back to normal tomorrow. Meanwhile, I got the crochet bug again, after making Sister's Christmas present of potholders in her kitchen colors. Trying my hand at a crocheted hat now. I've only unravelled it three times so far; must be improving....

Lizzy, my teacher was right-handed, I'm left. We sat facing each other and mirror-imaged the stitches. It worked beautifully.
