A CHICA CHOPPER
DA BLUE SHOVELHEAD
About ten or twelve years ago I photographed this “oh so traditional” Shovelhead Chopper built by Chica Custom Cycles in Huntington Beach, California. Dual upswept mufflers dump burnt exhaust gases and noise right at window level to annoy cage driving squares, just as they were designed to do. Long, lean-back, Z-style handlebars allow the rider to ride in a relaxed, reclined position, feet out front. Springer fork, one of Mel Magnet’s Rivera Engineering SU carburetor kits has been installed, which includes intake manifold and air cleaner. I never did like that foam rubber filter element. One backfire is all it took to either catch fire or blow the foam to shreds, or both. The carburetor body, dome, intake manifold and all related mounting hardware has been painstakingly polished and chrome plated. This motorcycle needs at least two lanes to turn around, but Classic American Chopperz aren’t known for their turning radius. That high sissy bar says “traditional Chopper” like nothing else can. This any other Chopper images can been seen on my website www.lovellphoto.com with more classic motorcycle images added daily.
