DAKOTA DIGITAL PLUG AND PLAY

SPEEDO-TACH FOR DYNA GLIDE

Dakota Digital is a small, South Dakota based company that specializes in manufacturing and selling digital as well as analog gauge products for most of the big name automotive giants like Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. For us motorcycle riders, Dakota Digital produces a wide variety of digital L.E.D. gauges for most Harley-Davidson model Motorcycles. My stone-stock 2010 Harley-Davidson Dyna-Glide was sold with an analog speedometer (needle that swings across the numbered gauge face) that functions perfectly, but is very difficult to read in bright sunlight when the sun hits the gauge face at a particular angle. The stock gauge is speedometer only….no tachometer. It is also somewhat plain looking, so I was itching to replace it with one of the Dakota Digital products available. I opted to install the Speedo/Tach combo gauge with Cobalt Blue L.E.D. numerals and black bezel, part number MCL-3204-K for 2004 and later model Harley-Davidson Dyna-Glides and Sportsters. Red numerals and/or chrome bezel are also available. This Speedo/Tach was truly easy to install with one tool, an Allen wrench, ya just gotta read the instructions. The Dakota Digital Speedo/Tach can be set with the current mileage on the existing stock odometer, as long as that setting is performed during the first 100 miles of use. Watch how easy it is to install, then contact Dakota Digital to find out exactly what digital gauge products they have that you might want on your Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The MCL-3204-K gauge face is dark, and stays dark until power is applied. It is a water proof unit designed for use with Harley-Davidson Dyna-Glide and Sportster model motorcycles 2004 and newer.

The stock analog gauge uses a sweeping needle on a numbered face for speedometer function. It is sometimes very difficult to read in bright sunlight, and has no tachometer function.

Loosen and remove the two rear plate fasteners by turning them counter clockwise. Then remove the plate by gently pulling on the edges.

Lift the locking tabs with your fingernail then wiggle the plug out of the stock speedometer connector.

Slide the stock speedometer unit out of the speedometer mount.

Reseat the rubber grommet if it has become dismounted or unseated.

Slide the Dakota Digital speedometer unit through the grommet and into the speedometer mounting ring with the plug opening at the same angle as the stock unit.

Plug the factory wiring harness into the Dakota Digital plug opening making sure the locking clips snap into place.

Reposition the stock grommet onto the mount housing, this act as a waterproof seal between the rear plate and the housing.

Re-install and tighten the two beveled Allen head screws to hold the rear plate in position.

Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position and those beautiful Cobalt Blue numerals light up like Christmas. The upper left small blue “ZERO” indicates the motorcycle is not turning.

The Dakota Digital numerals are easy to read even in BRIGHT sunlight. The tach function can be seen upper left on the gauge face and shows the motor is idling at approximately 1000 RPM.
