ORTEGA WILD BUNCH SERIES – ISLAND JIM

Limited production of only 500 boxes, Iron Mike is the third release of the Wild Bunch Series. Created to celebrate some of the colorful characters that Mr. Ortega has met in his years in the cigar business. A new cigar will be released every month throughout 2013, also, featuring the original art work of Neal Wollenberg. Each cigar will be made in only one size and when they are gone – they are gone. Look for each release to be available at Deadwood Tobacco: deadwoodtobacco.com

Wrapper: Ecuadoran Habano

Binder: Nicaragua

Filler: Nicaragua

Size: Island Jim “WaHoo” (6 1/2 x 52)

Construction: Solid feel, toothy, somewhat oily wrapper

Prelight: Earthy, leather and pepper spice

Cold Draw: Fresh pepper, earth, velvety, mouth coating leather and warm spicy note

First Third: Sustained black pepper aroma and taste along with sweet leather and smoked meat. Notes of cocoa, hazelnut and dry coffee with a clove not on the lips and tongue. Easy draw.

Burn: straight

Ash: gray

Body: Medium

Second Third: Mellows out considerably. More of a soft white pepper aroma with a toasty bread note stands out. A cedar note sneaks in and mingles with meaty sweet spice tones.

Final Third: Smooth and mellow with quiet notes of all the flavors. The wood flavor kicks up a little more but stays balanced with earthy, sweet leather and white pepper flavor seasoning.
