TO HONOR and REMEMBER OUR FALLEN HEROES

Yesterday at 10 AM at the Black Hills National Cemetery the annual ceremony to honor our military was held. An organization called “Wreaths Across America” provided Christmas wreaths to any and all who attended. These wreaths were then taken by local citizens and laid on many of the head stones in this South Dakota military cemetery to honor our fallen solders and thank our military for all they do for us. The eventual annual Christmas goal of Black Hills National Cemetery is to have many more local citizens participate in this annual ceremony and lay a Christmas wreath on every headstone to honor ALL the fallen military personnel interred at here.
Christine Bestgen (pictured here kneeling in front of the headstone) lost her son SPC Dennis Jensen of the US Army this year on August 16th. He was serving in Afghanistan, with Operation Enduring Freedom. Her grief was palpable, making me oh so aware of and thankful for all that I have this Christmas.
