STURGIS HANG OUT TIP NUMBER ONE

As a Sturgis, South Dakota resident I’m privy to some of the lesser known places where a biker can go during the Rally that may not be as crowded as most other locations. The Best Western Hotel at the extreme East end of Sturgis always hosts a full house as far as rooms go during the rally as does every other motel/hotel in a 60 mile radius, but the whiskey bar always has room for one more biker and his babe…
The restaurant and whiskey bar named “Caddy’s” is part of the Best Western Hotel and is considered by me to be a very cool place to hang out when you’re needing a little break from the raucous crowds of rally attendees. Sitting in a comfortable booth eating a medium rare New York steak while sipping my favorite cold beverage and watching the sometimes heavy motorcycle traffic past Caddys is what I prefer to do when it’s time for a lunch break.
Traffic watching can be very entertaining during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, if not in quality in quantity. Caddy’s Whiskey Bar has clean restrooms, home cooked food, and a very biker friendly staff. Caddy’s owner Guy Edwards rides a Harley-Davidson XL Chopper that looks like it fell from a time machine circa 1968. Guy rides it all over the Black Hills and parts unknown when he’s not cooking up a storm at Caddys.
