SD Department of Transportation numbers reported traffic counts of 497,835 vehicles. The City projected 505,000 people attended in 2022.
According to the official traffic numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Transportation, the 82nd Rally in 2022 was not nearly as big as 81st in 2021.
The South Dakota Department Of Transportation gathers these numbers from road tube counters placed at nine locations around the Sturgis region. According to the South Dakota Department of Revenue, tax collections at the 2022 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally are currently at $1,544,471, down 14% from 2021.
