Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations, or CVO, recently announced the release of a brand new model for the 2012 year: the Road Glide Custom, which features top of the line parts and design, including a liquid cooled engine that is one of Harley's most powerful ever. Long famous among Harley-Davidson fans for providing custom bikes with specialty components and paint jobs, the CVO lines are powerful, beautiful and totally unique from other Harleys on the road. Read on for a brief overview of some of the features of the new CVO Road Glide Custom. Unique Internal Features of the CVO Road Glide
There are many features, both interior and exterior, that set the CVO Road Glide apart from virtually every other type of Harley available today. Of interest to customers in search of power will be the liquid cooled, V-Twin engine, Harley's most powerful to date. This engine, called the Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam, sports 1803 cc volume and is rated at 122 pound-feet of torque at 3750 rpm. It is mated to a unique 6-speed transmission system in all Road Glides. Contrast Chrome Agitator wheels are built in custom 19-inch and 18-inch sizes for the rear and front of the bike, respectively, to ensure maximum traction and precision handling.
Alongside the engine is a new air intake system, called the Heavy Breather. This intake is fit with a black aluminum cover and chrome cutaway to show the interior of the intake adjacent to the twin cam engine. Also unique to the bike is a totally overhauled high-output amplified audio system. Sporting 100 watts of power per channel and both fairing-mounted speakers and dual tweeters, this is one of the top sound systems ever fitted to a Harley-Davidson bike. Each bike also comes with a custom 8-gigabyte iPod nano, decorated with the Harley logo and fit into a special holder.
External Features of the CVO Road Glide
There are many special cosmetic features of this new line of CVO. Available in three custom color configurations, each with a Real Smoke graphic and glossy black covering for most of the dash parts, the Road Glide Custom is unique for its excellent attention to detail in the paint job. The multi-color paint scheme is completely individual to this bike and will surely set it apart from other Harleys on the road. The Road Glide also features a large amount of polished chrome plating, including over the fuel tank console. The total appearance is one of a stylish, sleek and powerful bike that also has the internal workings to back up its image.
The 2012 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide is a limited production bike, with total production limited to approximately 2100 units, ensuring that the bike will sell out quickly and be a collector's item for years to come. The suggested retail price in the United States is $30,699.
